  Chapter Five: Captured!

"Hey, (name). Are you awake bella?"
     "Hmmmrrrgh. No."
"Bella, you've got to wake up. If you don't, Ludwig will yell at me- I mean, us!" Feliciano begged. You moaned and rolled over, unaware that you had (somehow) ended up on the Italians' back. "Wah!" You squeaked as you fell. It was a short drop, and you landed on the soft ground with a quiet 'thump'.

Feliciano jumped slightly, "Bella! Are you ok? Are you hurt? Please say you're not hurt! Alfred would kill me if you got hurt and I don't want to die!" He cried. You felt a different dragon nudge you up. "She's fine. It's not like you're a very tall dragon, fratello." Lovino grumbled from behind you. You rubbed your arms and smiled weakly, "I'm fine. I just didn't know I was up there." You replied, looking into the fretting dragons' wide amber eyes. He seemed to calm down a bit after that. You stretched, running a hand through your messy hair. You definately would need to bathe.

"By any chance, is there a stream nearby?" You asked as you entered the main clearing. Feliciano nodded enthusiastically, "Si! If you go into that forest just South of here, there's a stream that's really wide but also really slow moving. Why?" You looked away, "Well...I haven't bathed in a while..."

A few moments of silence passed until Feliciano nodded, "Oooh! Ok~! I'll tell Ludwig where you went so they don't get angry, ok?"
"Ok. Thanks Feli." You waved goodbye and headed South, towards a deciduous forest.

~short time skip of you walking~

Feliciano was right; this stream was perfect for bathing in. Testing the speed of the current, you tossed in a small branch, happy to see it float softly downstream. Taking your boots and socks off, you stuck your big toe in to test the water. You jumped backwards- it was freezing! But all streams were like that, so you would just have to adjust to it. Slowly taking off your weapons (A sword, a dagger, some other weapons that you stole- er, found from guards) and set them down a little ways away so they wouldn't get wet. Afterwards you quickly stripped and slowly slipped into the water. You shivered, feeling goosebumps form on your whole body. You started washing your hair immediately, and then moved to the rest of you. Scrubbing off the dirt and grime as best as you could, you grew used to the water. It was actually quite nice. You floated over to a shallower part of the stream, and relaxed a bit. Your eyes were closed and the feeling you had was akin to the feeling you had at the market; sweet contentment. Unfortunately, that feeling didn't last long.

                                       ~Adons POV~
                                               ~also small flashback~

"Oh, Adon. What a surprise. I was not expecting you for a few more days." The King gave me a smile as he set down his wine. I bowed in respect. "Well, I wouldn't have come early if I didn't have something important to tell you." I stated, looking up at him. "Oh?" He questioned, raising an eyebrow. A sly smile formed on my face, "It seems that we have another dragon in the kingdom. We found footprints by a lake in the outer reaches of your rule." The King took another sip of his wine, looking bored, "Well, if that's the case..." A glint of greed flickered in his eyes, "...Make sure to bring back as much as you can of its body. Dragon scales and teeth sell for quite a price. And they make grand weapons and armor." I bowed once more, "But this dragon...I think it may be capable of becoming a human." This made the kings' eyes widen, "Is that so?" He set down his wine with a loud clang, causing some to spill out. As the slaves cleaned it up, I nodded seriously, not taking my eyes off of his, "Yes, we found female footprints beside dragon footprints. No blood, no sign of struggle. Certainly not a captive. Dragons are too dumb to hold captives."

"Well...in that case...bring her back to me. I will decide what to do with her then."

~ End of flashback. Still his POV ~

My eyes scanned the forest as my small group of knights and warriors rode the dense woods. I was not going to let this dragon slip through my fingers. Before I had left, the King had promised a mighty raise of gold for me if I brought 'her' back alive.

Darius rode beside me, his eyes swirling with lust. He wanted to capture the beast as badly as I did. That's what made him such a great partner. He was willing to throw everything aside to complete his mission. Darius shot a glance at me, "He wants her back alive, right? Not completely unharmed?" I sighed, sometimes he was a bit TOO blood thirsty. "Try NOT to spill too much blood. She needs to be in a good condition when we bring her to the king." Darius nodded and returned to his original position. I focused back to look for any sign of the human-shifter.

                                                    ~Your/ 2nd POV~

You never dressed yourself so quickly before. In less than a minute you were fully dressed and running through the brush. You stumbled over roots and brambles, but you didn't stop. You had to get back to the others before the horsemen found you. Your conscience told you that it was Adon and his men, hunting dragons (aka you). You turned a sharp corner and hid behind a sturdy tree, sliding down until you were sitting.

As you caught your breath, you noticed something sparkle in the light. Taking a closer look, you noticed that it was a charm or necklace caught in some low branches. As scared as you were, the (fav color) gems entranced you. You crawled near it, and upon further examination, saw that it was a beautifully ornate pendant. It was a (fav color) gem that had a small Chinese dragon wrapped around it protectively. The dragon had fiery red eyes that seemed to glow with a light of their own. You untangled it and held it in your hands. An aura of power pulsed through it as you ran a finger over its smooth surface. For some reason...it reminds me of Wang or Kiku... You thought, noticing it's lengthy body and long flowing whiskers.

The sound of hooves thumping of the soft forest floor snapped you back into reality. You tried to get as low as possible, slipping on the dragon necklace and placing it into your outfit to keep it hidden. The horsemen were nearing now, and you could hear their voices. "It seems that someone's been through here sir. Recently, too." A foreign voice observed. You cursed mentally, how could you have been so dumb? These men tracked things for a living! "Hmm, good observation Darius. Search around for anything unusual, and report to me if you do!" Geez, these hooligans were loud. You held your breath, shrinking down into the underbrush as footsteps neared you. Gentle hands removed some nearby branches, and you locked eyes with a pair of wide, slightly scared light blue eyes. It was a boy, about your age, with blonde hair that was messy from riding through the woods. He seems innocent and, frankly, quite terrified when he saw you. He didn't make a sound, staring at you with his big eyes. You pressed your finger to your lips, narrowing your eyes in an attempt to look more terrifying. Your plan worked, and the boy nodded slightly (but nervously) and backed away. You relaxed a bit as he returned to his horse. You heard other men mount, and it seemed like they were about to leave. You let out the air you had been holding, but- unfortunately for you- they had not been making noise at that very moment, and heard you.

Rough hands pushed away the branches and pulled you to your feet, holding onto your collar of your shirt. "Oi, look at what we got 'ere. What's a fine miss like yourself doin' out 'ere in the Outer Woods? Not try t' hide from us, are ya?" The burly man half snarled, a cruel glint in his eyes. Setting you down harshly, he began to tie tight ropes around your arms and ankles. After you were securely bound, he turned to the boy. "How come I found 'er in t' same spot YOU was lookin' in, Fyn? You stupid sack of-"

"Now, now Gothar," a silky voice commanded from a horse, "No need to beat the boy. We have the dragon, nothing else matters now." You turned your head to see a tall man with dark hair and strikingly sharp copper eyes studying you with an intense gaze. You had to use lots of self control to mask your confusion with defiance. They thought you were a dragon?

"Though..." The man continued, "I expected you to put up more of a..." You fit all the pieces of this puzzle together. They thought you were a dragon. They were unaware of the others presence. They were safe. Good. As long as you could keep an act up, they shouldn't grow suspicious.

"...Struggle?" You snapped, glaring at him with blazing eyes. The man smirked, "Yes. I expected you to fight us. I should have known that dragons- even disguised as people- are still stupid creatures." You snarled at him with as much hatred as you could muster, and 'Gothar' pulled on your ropes to make you behave. "If I know one thing, I know that dragons are far more intelligent than you will ever fathom. We just choose to use our intelligence for more honorable pursuits-" The man cut you off, "-Like raiding villages and tormenting humans? Ha. You creatures are indeed quite intelligent." The sarcasm dripped in his voice, which made you even more furious. It wasn't hard to hate this man. He had obviously never seen dragons converse and come up with battle plans before! "You just wait. When I'm free of these binds, I'll prove to you and your entire wretched race how much more superior we are compared to you apes." The mans' eyes were absolutely filled with a sort of sick entertainment. He was ENJOYING this?! That sick, cruel-

         "I'm Adon (S/L/N)."
What?! THIS was the man you used to look up to?! You felt like screaming. He was no heroic warrior. He was a cruel disgusting bastard who delighted in hurting creatures. "Like I care what your name is, stupid human. It won't matter when you're dead anyway." Adon chuckled, "I shouldn't have expected any less from a dragon. Constant death threats, sharp remarks. You are a pure blooded dragon, through and through." His remark gave you a spark of confidence and hope. He believed you! Wow, you were a better actor than you thought.

"Alright men, we are done here." Adon turned his horse around, and you were pushed up onto the horse. A different man with brown eyes was behind you as you rode through the forest, a glare permanently on his face and a sigh of frustration escaping his lips every other minute. After a while you were fed up with his annoying actions. "Why the hell do you keep making those noises, human?" You hissed, sending a glare of your own at him. He looked at you with expressionless eyes, "I didn't get to spill one drop of your blood."

~Meanwhile, back at the Gathering spot~

"Wow...(Name) seems to be taking quite a long time with her bath..." Feliciano trailed off, looking away from the rest of the dragons. Arthur nodded, "Yes, our meeting is done and we can't leave until we know where she is. Feliciano, you DO know where she is, right?" The Italian nodded, "Si! She's down by that stream over there." He pointed towards the forest you had entered about an hour and a half ago. Arthur's emerald gaze hovered over it for a bit before he started heading towards it. Feliciano cocked his head to the side, "Where are you going?"

"I'm going to find (Name)."

"Wha-what?! You can't go look for her! She's taking a bath! What if you see her-"

"Feliciano, I don't think she's bathing anymore. I think something happened to her."

"Hm~? Like what?"

"I don't know...that's why I'm going to check on her."

"I'll come with you~!"

"No."

"Why not?"

"I can check on her just fine on my own. I don't need your babbling."

"I'll be quiet~! Pleaaaaasssse Arthur?"

The British dragon sighed, "Alright, but you have to be quiet."

"Yay! Grazie, Arthur!"

                                  ~another tiny time skip~

"This is the stream, correct?" Arthur questioned as he looked at the slightly shorter dragon. Feliciano nodded, "Yep! She should be here!" Arthur explored around a bit before noticing a certain pattern of marks in the dirt beside the stream. It looked like someone had been standing there, but was moving around quickly in the same spot. Much like one does when getting dressed? So (Name) got dressed...and...  Arthur followed her footsteps and noticed that eventually, her footsteps were blotched out by hoof prints. "Hoof prints? Who could possibly be riding...."

"Bloody Christ. They've got her."
"Who~? Feliciano chimed from behind Arthur.
"The dragon hunters. They've got (Name)."
To make up for my inactivity, here's another chapter! It's not very long, but it feel as if it didn't need to be~
